Southwest Petroleum University
About the UniversityFounded in 1958, Southwest Petroleum University (SWPU) is co-built by central and local governments and is administered mainly by Sichuan Provincial Government. It is the second petroleum university since the establishment of P.R. China. In 2013, SWPU was selected into the “National Central and Western Universities Basic Capacity Construction Project” and became one of the 100 universities in the project. Petroleum and natural gas engineering has been selected as the national first-class discipline for two consecutive rounds, and has been rated as A+ discipline in the national discipline assessment (the only provincial university). Now it has formed the discipline development pattern of “co-developing oil and gas, with gas being featured”, making the broadest discipline coverage and the most complete research directions across China and even around the world. Engineering, chemistry,material science and geoscience are among the top 1of ESI in the world.
